Artist Statement

When I was in college, I had to wait until my junior year to take an oil painting class.  I would pass by the studio every day with expectation and longing.  Even the smell excited me and it still does!  I am in love with oil painting.  It is a wonderful and productive addiction!

I aim for strong and diverse brushwork, recognizable subject matter with a little mystery and without extreme detail, harmonious and sometimes surprising color harmony, and the intriguing dance of light and shadow.
